So, I made it to round two of the Supreme Scrap Tournament, (happy dance!). The competition was very tough and I'm sure the second round will be worse! Here is what we needed to do:

Make a monochromatic colour layout
1. Pages :                 2 pages Layout (double page!)
2. Theme:                 You can choose your own theme
3. Colour LO:            The monochromatic colour scheme you use is up to you
4. How many Photos: Minimum of 1 photo
5. Photos:                  - One photo must be partly on the left and partly on the right page                                                                    - One photo needs to be black and white
6. Not to be used:      - You are restricted from using black anywhere on the layout
including, ink, paint, pen lines, journaling or any other elements.
                                - There is not to be black on the page with the exception of your black                                                                and white photo(s).
                                 - You can not use brown to antique elements unless brown is the
colour you choose for your monochromatic colour scheme.
7. Materials you may use:   embellishments, ink, media stuff, everything that you want in the                                                                       monochromatic colour.

It is more difficult than it sounds! I chose black and white photographs of my daughter Electra, taken in her final year of high school. The photos are fun and filled with movement and emotion. I decided to use her favourite colour as my monochromatic colour.

I used Crate patterned paper with a mottled turquoise colour - NO white, as background and further distressed the pages with distress ink. Then I used a stencil and distress paint to add more colour and dimension. The chipboard title and photo-strips were coloured with distress ink again and I used various shades of turquoise flowers and pearls to embellish the layout. As a final touch, I added various sizes of butterflies punched from turquoise card stock.

Here are some close-up photos of the details:

Thank you for taking the time to have a look!
